INTRODUCTION
I am Tom Speight, a former CEO of 2(X)IST and President of Calvin Klein Underwear North America, who teamed up with my good friend, social media guru, and brand builder Garrett Swann to create ALPHX. What’s ALPHX? ALPHX is the brand we started, and it’s an adjective describing the men for whom the brand was created. A brand has to have a story, and ours is about more than better-fitting underwear. It’s about finding a better way to live life. It’s about being confident in who you are and not being afraid to show others your best sides.
We created an underwear brand that celebrates our uniqueness, loves our perfect imperfections, and doesn’t shame or judge other people for their body types. Instead, we created a brand that empowers men to be themselves and love themselves- one pair of underwear at a time. I will use this ongoing blog to highlight our product, our story, and our ongoing journey of becoming better versions of ourselves. In this first post, I will define the key traits of an ALPHX man.
HELPFUL, NOT CONDESCENDING
The Alphx male helps others without hesitation. His motivations are simple. He is, by nature, empathetic and wants to be of service to other people. He doesn’t help to make himself “look good” or belittle others by showing them how “it’s done.”
SELF-CONFIDENT, NOT ARROGANT
An Alphx guy takes pride in his accomplishments, knowing they result from hard work. However, the ALPHX man differs from others in his lack of arrogance regarding his achievements. He knows his success does not make him superior and is grateful for what he has, understanding that fortune is fickle and the wheel of fortune turns.
HUMBLE, NOT WEAK
The Alphx man views humility as a strength; he does not seek credit or self-promote. However, he does not confuse humility with inaction. He is not afraid to act or speak up when he sees injustice. His code of conduct is to do more, say less. Those who misjudge his humility for weakness do so at their own peril.
TOLERANT, NOT IGNORANT
The Alphx man is open-minded and welcomes new ideas and opinions. He surrounds himself with diverse people, life experiences, and beliefs, knowing that his own views are partly shaped by his unconscious biases. However, he does not mistake tolerance for condoning bad behavior, and he operates with a solid moral compass without being self-righteous.

CONCLUSION
The good news is that these are aspirational traits. None of us adhere to them all of the time, but they serve as guide posts. When we reflect on our behavior and notice moments of arrogance, condescension, weakness, ignorance, or obsessive behavior we can course correct and resume our journey of becoming better versions of ourselves.
